Location:  Martin is located in the northwest corner of Tennessee, 130 miles northeast of Memphis and 150 miles northwest of Nashville.

    

Housing:  The Martin housing market, unlike many places aroud the country, has remained relatively stable.  Although home sales the 3rd quarter of 2008 were down 29% from the same period a year ago, average home price was $115,840, up from $85,154.

Education:  Martin is part of the Weakley County educational system.  We have 2 elementary schools, 1 middle/Jr. high, 1 senior high, 1 private/parochial and 1 four year college.
 

Demographics:  Martin is the largest town in Weakley County with a population of 10,515 of which 78% is white and 46.9% is male.  Weakley County has a total population of 34,895 with 90% being white.  Population with a 25 mile radius is 100,000.  Per capita personal income in 2004 was $23,188

    

Civic:  Citizens are encouraged to get involved in the community.  Martin has active Rotary, Kiwanis, Pilot, Civitan, Lyons and Optimist Clubs. Other ways to get involved include a senior citizens center,  Habitat for Humanity, Hunters for the Hungry,  and 23 churches.

Climate:  Martin has a temperate climate with pronounced seasonal variations in both temperature and precipatation .  30 yr. avg temperature is 62.1 degrees; avg. precipatation 49.73"; avg. snowfall 10"

Health CareVolunteer Community Hospital, the only hospital in Weakley Co., is a 100 bed facility.  Martin also has 6 clinics, 29 doctors., 9 dentists, 6 optometrisis, 6 nursing homes and 1 residential/assisted living facility.

Recreation:  6 parks including the Martin Recreation Complex, 2 golf courses, 2 swimming pools, 1 theatre and various sporting and cultural events offered to the community bu UTM.
